Use Those Business Cards!

Business Cards can be a great way to advertise. Here are some suggestions:
1. Put them on every bulletin board from the grocery store to the library, etc
2. Stick some self-adhesive magnet on the back and stick them to the doors in public bathrooms, on the outside of mailboxes, etc
3. Tape them to several pages in your old magazines and then take a stack of the magazines to a local doctor's, dentist's, etc. They'll appreciate having reading material for their waiting room and the customers will see your 'ads' as they flip through the magazine.
4. Ask your hair stylist, doctor, etc if you can leave a stack of cards in their office / on their desk for others to take
5. Put a couple in the envelopes you send out when you pay your monthly bills.... who knows? The person in that company's mail room may be interested in your service!

What about health insurance?

Working from home means providing your own health insurance. Depending on the area you live in and the field you work in, there may be some unions that offer discounts on health insurance. For instance, freelance writers who live in the New York area can join the National Writers Union. Do some searches on Google and see if there are any unions around you. You can also buy your own health insurance through an insurance agent. You might want to check out several agents to make sure you get the best coverage for the best rates!

Show 'em you care!

Try sending out e-cards to your customers (or team members, if you are in a party plan or network marketing type of business). It is a nice way to show you care!

Take Time Out For Yourself

If you have been working your butt off, take a day off (or at least a few hours) and de-stress. You will come back to work the next day, recharged and ready to go! Try getting a manicure, pedicure or massage. Let someone pamper you for a few hours. The benefits are amazing!

Accepting Payments

Working from home does pose a challange when it comes to accepting payments. Some companies charge an outrageous amount for credit card processing and there are drawbacks to accepting checks... if your client's check is bad, your bank is going to charge you a fee! Paypal is a great alternative! I've been using paypal for years and love them!
